Unemployment Report: Oswego Unemployment Rates Fell Slightly in November 2012

With a fiscal cliff looming, the Department of Employment Security said last month that a solution was necessary to help improve jobless rates.

Unemployment rates in Illinois dropped slightly from October 2012 to November, to 8.2 percent, and are a full percentage point compared to 2011, according to new figures released last week.  November local unemployment rates fell in 11 of 12 metro areas compared to last year, according to data released by the U.S. Department of Labor and the Illinois Department of Employment Security. Unemployment Report: Jobless Numbers Up Across the Area

Although unemployment is down from this time compared to last year, numbers increased from September 2012 to October.

Unemployment rates in Illinois increased slightly from September 2012 to October, but are still down compared to 2011, according to new figures released last week.  October local unemployment rates fell in every metro area compared to last year, according to data released by the U.S. Department of Labor and the Illinois Department of Employment Security. In Oswego unemployment went up in Octomber to 7.4 percent from 6.7 percent in September. In Kendall County unemployment ticked up in October to 7.1 percent from 6.6 percent in September. In Kane County the rate increased to 7.8 percent from 7.3 percent month over month. How can this be? We are heading into the holiday season. After everyone bloats up on the holiday spending, these workers are kicked to the curb. Again. The economy is recovering. (?)
