After 24 hours of snowfall, the National Weather Service said Yorkville had the most snow.
How much snow did Yorkville get? A lot. How does that compare to the rest of the area? Well, according to the National Weather Service, Yorkville claims the prize of having the most snowfall in a 24 hour period from 6 a.m. on Tuesday morning to 6 a.m. Wednesday morning. Yorkville got a total of 11.7 inches, according to the NWS, which beat out Ottawa (11 inches) and De Kalb (10.2 inches). And what did some of our neighbors get? As of 8:31 p.m. Tuesday night, the NWS reported that Oswego had 8.1 inches of snow. Plano at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday was reported with 8.3 inches.

Last week, I read in the Kendall County Record as well as the local Patch, that there is another federal lawsuit against the Kendall County Sheriff’s Department among the two current sexual harassment suits. After I read about the lawsuit filed known as the “Wal-Mart incident”, I thought to myself, well this is kind of ridiculous. I myself don’t doubt it is a scheme to make a quick buck. However, despite what my opinion is, it’s the job of the courts to decide whether the claim is just. On the other hand, the Kendall County Sheriff’s Department felt the need to give their opinion on Facebook. 21-year-old wheelchair bound Plano resident Corey Cann has not been seen since approximately 7 p.m. Feb. 22.
Update 7:56 p.m., Sunday Corey Cann has been reported found safe, said Plano Police Chief Steven Eaves. Read the account here. Google, Bing both reveal messages accessing website "may harm your computer."
If you've tried to access the Kendall County website today you may have seen multiple warning messages urging you to navigate away from the site. When logging onto one of the county Web pages warnings appear that entering the site may harm your computer. The county IT Department is working on the issue, but has not provided information as to whether the site was hacked or if there are other errors causing the warning. Patch will update as soon as more information becomes available. Update 1:20 p.m. - It appears the situation has been resolved, the website warnings no longer appear on the search engines. Liquid was discovered during a surprise inspection of jail cells in November.
A 24-year old Yorkville man was charged with illegal possession of alcohol while serving time in the Kendall County Jail in November. According to a Kendall County Sheriff's Office press release Thomas Binion of the 9300 block of Route 34 was discovered to have a bottle of what appeared to be homemade alcohol in his cell when deputies performed surprise inspections of the jail. The liquid was sent to the Illinois State Police Crime Lab for processing, where it was confirmed to be alcohol. Possession of alcohol by an inmate is a Class 4 felony. Binion has been charged with possession and is currently in custody. His bond was set at $5,000. In July Binion was charged with two felony counts of violation of the Illinois Sex Offender …

Driver claims stuck accelerator was cause of the accident.
A stuck accelerator is apparently to blame for an automobile plunging through the front doors of the Shell station on the corner of routes 47 and 34 around lunchtime Monday, Yorkville police said. "The driver of the vehicle was an elderly gentleman, and he said his accelerator got stuck," Deputy Chief of Police Larry Hilt said Monday afternoon. The 76-year-old driver was not injured, nor was anyone inside the store, Hilt said. How many people were inside at the time of the incident is unclear. Curtain opens Feb. 22 at Oswego East High School.
The Spotlight Youth Theater, featuring actors ages 8- to 18-years-old, will perform "Beauty and the Beast Jr." Feb. 22- March 3 at Oswego East High School, 1525 Harvey Road. Hatcher, a Yorkville Republican, reacts to Quinn's state of the state address.
Rep. Kay Hatcher of Yorkville said Gov. Pat Quinn's Feb. 6 State of the State speech showed misplaced priorities. Hatcher, like her Republican colleagues in the state Senate, Jim Oberweis, of Sugar Grove, and Sen. Karen McConnaughay of South Elgin, said the governor failed to address the state's most-serious problems of high unemployment, financial insolvency and pension reform. Storm could cause issues with morning commute.
Watch those roads in the morning. The National Weather Service said a winter storm is expected to bring a mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow to the area late tonight and into the morning. By late morning all precipitation north of I-88 should be snow, the NWS said. The storm could bring up to three inches of snow to the area. UPDATE: The NWS has amended its forecast to lessen the prediction of snow accumulation. At 6:15 p.m. the service said the morning commute may be hazardous due to precipitation, but heavier snowfall would be closer to the Wisconsin border. Drivers are urged to use caution during the morning commute. Patch will update this story as the forecast warrants.
