Letter to the Editor: Thanks for an Amazing Country Market!

Send your letters to the editor to natalie.stevens@patch.com.

On behalf of the vendors, thanks to everyone in the community who shopped and supported Oswego’s Country Market. It was another great season and most of the vendors will be happy to tell you that the Oswego market is their favorite because of the people in our community! They look forward to seeing their “regulars” at the market each week as much as we look forward to getting our favorite things from them. Thank you to Bob Tripp, N.M.Tripp Insurance Agency, Inc., and Greg Kaleel, American Male & Co., for generously allowing the market to set up in their parking lots. Shoppers and vendors the downtown location as it draws a crowd to Main Street on Sunday mornings! The Country Market vendors are invited to participate in a one-time winter …

Fox River Academy Bringing Artistic Appreciation to the Community

Downtown Oswego art installation the latest project for director Karen Kulzer.

Since 2003, Karen Kulzer has worked diligently and passionately to bring art appreciation to the Oswego community. Kulzer is a director and founder of Oswego’s Fox River Academy of Music and Art. Kulzer said the founders specifically chose their Oswego location. “This community needed a community presence for art appreciation. There is a lot of work being done in the schools, but at the community level the town could use more focus," Kulzer said "One part of our mission is to improve the community’s appreciation of the arts. We also work to connect people, building relationships through music and art.” In addition to popular classes such as piano, guitar and voice, Fox River Academy (FRA) brings classes to the community like harp and oboe…

Letter to the Editor: Thanks for a Great First Country Market

If you want to send a letter to the editor, email Andre Salles at andre.salles@patch.com.

With the opening of the Oswego Country Market this past Sunday, it feels like Summer is officially here! The sun was shining and the air was filled with excitement and an intoxicating and inviting bouquet of scents wafting from some of our favorite vendors. There were smiles all around as friends and families met up on Main Street to enjoy the market. Thank you to all who came out and supported our vendors by shopping for food and other treasured goodies at the Oswego Country Market. Shopping locally at our market helps to promote a happy and healthy community. Not only are we able to purchase fresh, healthy and delicious food, but we are able to re-connect with old friends and make new ones as we all stroll through the market together. …

We spent a couple wonderful hours at the Country Market Sunday. Nice to see the favorite vendors along with some new folks. The lady selling the Alpaca wool items was a delight and very informative to speak with. Delicious foods, beautiful weather, seeing our community and supporting these small IL businesses made for a great morning!   more ›

Celebrate Summer at the Country Market on Sunday

The Oswegoland Park District's annual market will bring together about 40 local vendors on Main Street every Sunday through September.

We’ve all heard how important it is to shop local. Starting Sunday, you’ll have a weekly chance to put that into practice. The Oswegoland Park District will kick off its annual summer Country Market on Sunday at 9 a.m. on Main Street. The market brings together local farmers, craftsmen and vendors, offering hand-made and naturally-grown wares. You can get locally-grown produce, farm fresh eggs, Wisconsin cheese, home-baked bread and a wide variety of crafts from local artisans. It’s a celebration of Oswego-area farmers and business owners, according to Cori Veverka, cultural arts supervisor with the park district. The Country Market began about 10 years ago, Veverka said, and like the produce for sale there, it grew organically. What …
