Oswego Man Injures Grandson, Himself in ATV Accident

He is charged with the illegal operation of an all terrain vehicle on a roadway.

An Oswego man was cited for the illegal operation of an all terrain vehicle on a roadway after being involved in an accident, said the Sheriff’s office.

Richard L. Luebbing, 48, of the 1600 block of Light Road, Oswego, was driving a Yamaha Blaster 4-wheeler along Sundown Lane at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept 7, with his one and a half year old grandson when the ATV struck a dog that ran out in front of him.

The ATV rolled over on Sundown Lane near Minkler Road.

Both Luebbing and his grandson were taking to Rush Copley Hospital by the Oswego Fire Department. Luebbing sustained minor injuries while his grandson sustained a broken collarbone.

According to Illinois legislation 625 ILCS 5/11-1427 no persons except those permitted by law are allowed to operate or ride an all terrain vehicle on public roadways.

Luebbing was ticketed with the illegal operation of an all terrain vehicle on a roadway.
